This Holiday Season, reach out to people and practice saying this- "Often the holidays can be tough to navigate, I want to let you know, if by chance you're struggling silently with grief, addiction, thoughts of suicide or depression, I promise to listen and not be quick to try and"fix it." Imagine if you watched someone reach out for help and then it's used against them. "We must stop telling people to reach out for help and then penalize them when they do"įriends, sometimes people do reach out and sadly they face severe consequences. In both of my books, 'Inside "The Mind" of Suicide' and 'From The Deepest Darkness to The Light of Hope' I share several insights that actually did help me stay. I was thinking of them (in my mind) I wasn't myself, I was broken and hopeless that anything could change! People often said, think of your children, and that only made me feel more shame. When you are in the thick of it, you can't see this. when my suicidal ideation was at its worst, I held on for moments like this! Here's the thing.
